Craftsmanship in Sluis

At the new Delft Blue Shop in Sluis, you will not only find beautiful porcelain. The story too is more than worth telling, as it relies on beauty, tradition and love. And all in a cosy community with a magical edge.

Ruben Devilee from The Hague followed love to our region, specifically to Schoondijke. He already knew Sluis and there was an instant click. "Sluis has something magical. Life is good here and the atmosphere friendly," Ruben says.

Ruben used to work for a time in a Delft Blue shop in ... Delft. Characteristic of this charming pottery is the hand-painted blue and white decoration. This craft has been a household name since the 16th century. Until now, Delft blue was less commonly available in shops in our region. Ruben saw his chance and started looking for a suitable commercial property.

Tradition in the shadow of the mill

Ruben discovered one of our commercial properties. Great location, but it needed some renovation work. Since Ruben was not really up for that, broker Collin suggested him a move-in ready alternative, just around the corner from the mill. With his new Delft Blue shop, Ruben brings a piece of domestic cultural heritage to Sluis. Besides decorative vases and crockery, you will also find fun gadgets such as magnets and figurines. Ruben looks forward to welcoming you at Plompe Toren 2B, in Sluis.
